Building relationship is about measuring and mapping resources.  Networks should be constantly be pruned and tuned to be effective.

Vocabulary

  • Nodes (points/members/resources)
  • Edges (connections between nodes)
  • Centrality (# of unique edges connected to a node; degree centrality is who (node) has the most connections; betweeness centrality is who is the most important in a network "go-between"; closeness centrality is how close people (nodes) are to each other)
  • Network: density (of all possible connections, how many actually exist in the network), centralization, reach.
Guiding Questions to determine the flow in your EdTech network: If you need good web resources who do you turn to?  If you need a printer fixed who do you turn to? If you have questions about copyright and fair use who do you ask?  If your computer screen freezes who do you go to for help?
