Lisa Highfill has seen student engagement increase and higher-level thinking empowered through her use of technology to teach reading.

 

Here are a few tips:

1. Find or create a youtube video to introduce the book.

 

 

2. During computer lab time, have the kids respond to the book using a Google form with open ended questions.

 

3. Share out the thinking recorded with the class during discussions.  Bridge critical thinking into independent reading.

1. searches must be: justified at its inception, and
2. reasonably related in scope to the circumstances which justified the interference in the first place

ITSC 2012: Technology in Elementary School

This workshop has had so much information...  Not sure where to start...  For now I am going to give you this site to look at.. http://aroundtheworldwith80schools.net/  This is a place where schools meet other schools to skype with.  Right now this is not available in our district but DTEC is working on this.  :)  Also here is the web address for a site that the women who is teacher our workshop has created... Only about one hour left of this workshop :( and then the closing and ITSC 2012 is over.  I am sad but can't wait to come back and share all this information with you at DTEC's upcoming workshops... (March 7th @ Junior High and March 21st @ High School) Plan on joining us.
